Experience and background

My experience includes a culturally informed and strength-based approach led by transparency and honesty. I strive to build relationships and sustainable programs that align with individual and organizational goals to improve service delivery to their constituents.

Managing grants and making sense of how to implement program goals can feel overwhelming. You are often left determining the blueprint of how to get started. I’ve been there. After receiving the Notice of Award, it is common to have the following questions, especially if you are new to managing grants.

  • What is my first step?
  • How do I develop an effective strategic plan with SMART (measurable) objectives?
  • Where do I obtain reliable data sources?
  • Do my program activities align with my project narrative?
  • How do I ensure my activities are culturally informed/trauma-informed?
  • How do I gain trust from those the grant is serving?
  • How do I establish partnerships with key participants?
  • How do I involve youth and young adults? Elders?
  • How do I establish a sustainable action plan?
  • What is the process for administering community readiness assessments?
  • What can I do to maintain internal capacity to ensure success?

I have over 7 years of experience in suicide prevention, grant management, strategic planning, program implementation, grant writing, and community engagement with diverse populations. I have implemented youth-led programs and life skills curricula that include suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.
